Selena Gomez Gets Kidney Transplant From Pal Francia Raisa, Shows Scar From Surgery


The 'Fetish' singer reportedly needed transplant after having kidney failure due to her chronic inflammatory disease lupus.

Selena Gomez opened up about a secret surgery she had over the summer. The 25-year-old singer/actress who is battling lupus took it to Instagram to reveal that she went under the knife and received a kidney transplant from her friend Francia Raisa.

According to TMZ, Selena had kidney failure in May. She was reportedly rushed to the hospital when she was in Chicago to support her boyfriend The Weeknd's concert. PEOPLE reported The Weeknd rearranged his concert dates to be by his girlfriend's side.

The Weeknd kicked off his tour in February. He traveled North America and Europe all summer, but only had one date in August. He pulled the plug on his scheduled show on August 26 and was a no-show at the MTV Video Music Awards on August 27.

Selena shared a picture from hospital. The "Fetish" singer and Francia, also an actress, were seen lying on hospital beds side-by-side while holding hands. Two other pictures showed her baring her midriff post-surgery and revealing her scar in the process.

She wrote, "I'm very aware some of my fans had noticed I was laying low for part of the summer and questioning why I wasn't promoting my new music, which I was extremely proud of. So I found out I needed to get a kidney transplant due to my Lupus and was recovering."

"It was what I needed to do for my overall health. I honestly look forward to sharing with you, soon my journey through these past several months as I have always wanted to do with you. Until then I want to publicly thank my family and incredible team of doctors for everything they have done for me prior to and post-surgery."

 "And finally, there aren't words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa. She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis."

Francia responded on her own Instagram, "I am beyond grateful that God would trust me with something that not only saved a life, but changed mine in the process. This was part of our story, and we will share it soon, but what is important now is that this is not the only story."

 "The Secret Life of the American Teenager star also shared a picture with Selena from her birthday back in July. "Happy birthday to my sister," she wrote in Spanish and called Selena her "forever friend."

Selena Gomez is now back to work after full recovery. She was spotted on the set of Woody Allen's new movie. She was seen kissing co-star Timothee Camalet. The Weeknd resumed his tour as well. He will stay on the road until mid-December.

Video: Taeyang Bleeding Onstage After He Hit His Nose With Mic


Despite the nosebleed, the 'Eyes, Nose, Lips' singer continues his performance as if nothing happened.

Taeyang suffered a minor injury during his recent concert in San Jose, California. Performing Sunday night, September 10 as part of his "White Night" tour, the 29-year-old singer/songwriter accidentally hit his nose with a mic.

During his performance of "Look at Only Me", the member of Big Bang showed an energetic move, jumping and reaching for the mic on the stand, but the mic flipped and hit him in the face. He laughed it off and continued his performance, but fans noticed his nose was bleeding.

Despite his nosebleed, the "Eyes, Nose, Lips" hitmaker showed his professionalism and completed the performance as if nothing had happened. He then assured fans that he was fine.


On his show, Taeyang sang some of Big Bang's songs such as "Fantastic Baby", "Bang Bang Bang" and "Last Dance". He told the crowd, "Every time I sing this song ['Last Dance'] I miss Big Bang members a lot. We were able to make music and spend the last ten years together because of you guys. You have always been by our side and showed us the world even though we're on the opposite side of the world from Korea but I will never forget the support from all of you in San Jose."

Taeyang embarks on his solo "White Night" tour in support of his third solo album of the same name. The tour includes 19 cities across the world, including New York City, Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas and Los Angeles in the U.S.

After the North American trek that ends September 15 in Vancouver, Canada, he will continue the tour with some stops in Asian countries, including Philippines, Hong Kong, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan.

Taeyang will soon begin his mandatory military service, so the tour will be his chance to greet his fans in person the last time in a while. Another member of Big Bang, T.O.P, is currently serving in military, putting the group on hiatus.

'America's Got Talent' Semifinals Results 2: Meet the Top 10!


Mentalist Colin Cloud, dance troupe Diavolo and singer Kechi were announced as the three acts vying for the Dunkin' Save.

It's time to reveal the last five finalists rounding out the Top 10 of "America's Got Talent"! In Wednesday, September 13 episode of the NBC show, host Tyra Banks announced five out of eleven acts who would move on to the finals.

Tyra first named the acts who placed fourth, fifth and sixth that would be up for the Dunkin' Save. The three acts were mentalist Colin Cloud, dance troupe Diavolo and singer Kechi. America was only given 30 minutes to vote to save their favorite act from elimination.

Tyra later asked Christian Guardino, Merrick Hanna and Angelica Hale to come to the stage. The latter was then announced as the first act to go to the finals. With that, Christian and Merrick were sadly eliminated.

Next acts to learn their fates were Mandy Harvey, Celine Tam and the Pompeyo Family. Mandy bested Celine and the dog-loving family with her original song called "Release Me".

Before moving forward with more announcements, Absinthe, one of Vegas' hottest groups, took the stage. They brought a mind-blowing performance to the show, before Tyra proceeded to ask Light Balance and In The Stairwell to step forward.

While both delivered mesmerizing performances, only one of them would be sent to the finals. And it was Light Balance who went through the finals!

The first three finalists were already announced, and now it was time to find out whom America voted to the finals through the Dunkin' Save. American wanted to see more of Kechi as she bested Colin and Diavolo. Left in jeopardy were Colin and Diavolo as their fates would be decided by judges' choice. It was a win for Diavolo as Simon Cowell, Melanie Brown a.k.a. Mel B and Howie Mandel all voted for the dance troupe.

With that, Diavolo rounded out the Top 10, which also include Chase Goehring, Evie Claire, Darci Lynne, Preacher Lawson, Sarah & Hero, Kechi, Mandy Harvey, Light Balance and Angelica Hale.

Sporting a cleavage-baring dress, the 'Rake It Up' raptress was seen getting cozy with her rumored beau when helping him celebrate his 44th birthday.

The "If I Rule the World" spitter is turning 44 on Thursday, September 14, and the 34-year-old Trinidadian beauty helped him celebrate his early birthday party on Wednesday night, where the rumored lovebirds were seen cozying up to each other.

In a series of videos posted on an Instagram account dedicated for the rumored couple, Nas was seen putting her hand on Nicki's shoulders. She let her long blonde hair down to her lower back.

Nicki, along with Nas' family and friends, was singing "Happy Birthday" to the Grammy-nominated hip-hop star who looked happy as he was all smiles that night. Suiting up in a silky blue shirt and matching pants, the "Patience" rapper was seen sipping his drink and dancing with the "Anaconda" hitmaker while waiting for his birthday cake.

Nicki sparked romance rumors with Nas when she shared a cuddly Instagram pic earlier this year. Is there trouble in paradise in Chrissy Teigen and John Legend's marriage? That's what In Touch has reported. According to the site, the loving spouses, who are parents to 17-month-old daughter Luna, have been attending marriage counseling as their relationship is said to be spiraling downward.

An insider tells the webloid that the 31-year-old model and her singer husband "are having real marriage problems." Another source close to the couple says that things have gotten so serious, as "they have been in marriage counseling for the last six months."

Chrissy's battle with pospartum depression and her excessive drinking, which she recently claimed to have restrained, allegedly have brought the couple "to a breaking point." The insider says that they are fighting nonstop," but despite that, "they're trying very hard to make their marriage work."

The news comes just a few days after it was revealed that John tried to break up with Chrissy prior to tying the knot, but the "Lip Sync Battle" co-host was not having it. The "Love Me Now" singer noted that the "breakup" only lasted half an hour.

"I was really stressed and busy," the 38-year-old singer said in an interview with The Guardian earlier this month. "I was just like: 'I'd just be happier single right now,' and she was like: 'No.' "

 Chrissy later addressed their breakup via Twitter. "11 years later baby," she tweeted. "It was a typical breakup," the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model added in her tweet. "He was on tour and his voice hurt and he was being a shiny face about everything and so year, I was like 'no.' "

Chrissy and John got engaged in December 2011 after four years of dating. The couple tied the knot in September 2013 in Como, Italy. Their daughter Luna was born on April 14 last year.

Nicki opted for a classy look as she donned a tight black dress with a cleavage-baring corset top, which she paired with a matching long tuxedo-style jacket. She completed the look with a pair of diamond-encrusted heels. The Trinidadian-born musician looked stunning and all while posing elegantly before the camera, until the cup on her corset top fell to low and gave everyone a peek at her ni-pple.

The rapper, however, didn't seem to notice the wardrobe malfunction as she kept posing in front of cameras as if nothing happened. A source claimed that Nicki felt embarrassed by it. "She had no idea it would be that obvious until she was under the lights and camera and by that time it was too late. The 31-year-old songstress took to Instagram to share a pic that saw her sporting short blonde cut while flaunting her boobs in a sheer blazer.

Solange Knowles is definitely a style chameleon. While she has been known for her signature natural curly, dark locks, the "Cranes in the Sky" hitmaker surprised fans as she just debuted a bold new look on Instagram with a photo that found her rocking short, blonde afro hair.

Prior to this, the singer revealed that she's always experimental with her hair. "My mom owned a hair salon in Houston," she recalled. "She didn't have sitters, so she'd pick my sister and me up from school, and we'd spend evenings there. We saw women cut their hair and get extensions the next day; the transformation was powerful. So when we were little, we both cut all our hair off, then we said, 'Put it back!' She encouraged us to try things--that was huge."

However, she realized the importance of celebrating natural hair. "I think many people, especially from other cultures, just don't understand the role hair plays in Black women's lives. Rebel Wilson Won Staggering $3.6 Million in Damages Over Defamatory Magazine Articles


Bauer Media was ordered to pay the Australian actress in general damages, including aggravated damages and special damages for the articles, which allegedly cost her roles in two Hollywood movies.

A judge awarded Rebel Wilson record damages of 4.56 million Australian dollars ($3.66 million) on Wednesday, September 13 in a defamation case against Bauer Media. The Australian comedian claimed that the company, publisher of the Australian magazines Woman's Day, Australian Women's Weekly, NW and OK, defamed her with their articles, which cost her roles in Hollywood movies.

A Supreme Court of Victoria ordered Bauer Media to pay the "Pitch Perfect" actress A$650,000 in general damages, including aggravated damages, plus A$3,917,472 in special damages. In June, a six-person jury decided that the articles claiming she lied about her age, origins of her first name and some of her childhood events in Sydney were defamatory.

At the supreme court in Melbourne on Wednesday, Justice John Dixon said a "substantial" payment was required to "vindicate" Wilson after her reputation as an "actress of integrity was wrongly damaged." Interest and costs would be determined at a later date.

"At trial and in the full media glare Bauer Media attempted to characterise its articles as true, trivial, or not likely to be taken seriously," added Dixon. "The jury's verdict established Bauer Media's publications had branded Ms Wilson a serial liar who had fabricated almost every aspect of her life. The jury rejected the defences of substantive truth, triviality and statutory qualified privilege."

The justice also made special mention of an article by award-winning journalist Caroline Overington for the Woman's Day website. He stated that the article "conveyed that Ms Wilson is so untrustworthy that nothing she says about herself can be taken to be true unless it has been independently corroborated. Such a meaning is, self-evidently, very serious."

In addition, Dixon criticized Bauer Media for failing to properly investigate the allegations against the actress as well as for publishing them despite "knowing them to be false." He said, "The information was based on a source who required payment and anonymity and whom the editor considered had an axe to grind."

General counsel for Bauer Media Adrian Gross said in a statement on Wednesday morning that the company was considering the judgment. "Bauer Media has a long history of delivering great stories to our readers and we have a reputation for developing some of the best editorial teams in this country. This is what we are focused on. It is about continuing to do what we do best and that is delivering great content to more than 85% of Australian women across the country via our iconic portfolio," he said.

Wilson said after winning, "You're not popular for long in Hollywood, you have a few years until you go out of fashion. They took those two years away from me doing what I love, which is entertaining people and making people laugh."

During the trial, Wilson's barrister Dr Matthew Collins QC claimed that his client was subsequently dismissed from "Trolls" and "Kung Fu Panda 3" due to the defamatory articles. "It should have been the high point of her career. She should have been going from meeting to meeting to discuss future roles. In fact, the phone stopped ringing," said Dr Collins.
